Land near Gays Lane in Holyport
A fundraiser to hire specialists for an upcoming public inquiry into rejected plans for Holyport Film Studios has raised more than £12,000.
RBWM refused planning permission for the controversial project proposed for land near to Gays Lane – which saw hundreds of residents’ objections – during a meeting in March.
Organised by Holyport and Fifield Community Action Group, a GoFundMe has seen seven donations of £1,000 and almost 60 contributions at the time of press.
On the fundraising page, organisers wrote: “Should the developer be successful in its appeal, not only will it be devastating for the neighbouring villages of Holyport, Fifield and Oakley Green, but it will also encourage other inappropriate large-scale applications to be submitted.”
The fundraiser has a £50,000 target and organisers have said on the fundraising page that money will be returned to donors if some goes unused.
They said: “Our communities have decided to also have a seat at the table and to enable this, are crowdfunding to protect our historic villages from destruction.”
