Prime example of why punctuation matters

Prime example of why punctuation matters

I read all the statements by the election candidates last week, and one really stood out  – for being incomprehensible.

The 150-word statement from UKIP contained four very long sentences and one comma.

Because I train people in business writing I was tempted to write all over it like a teacher, but the point is this  – punctuation helps people to 'say your words correctly in their head'.

Without it, we struggle to make sense of sentences – especially long ones.

Course delegates do sometimes ask me whether punctuation is that important.

The answer, in situations like this, is Yes.
