A dance performance from the avant-garde of flamenco culture - accompanied by traditional flamenco musicians - is coming to Norden Farm this month.
Rebeca Ortega has had the privilege of being nominated by the Embassy of Spain to represent flamenco art with her company all over the world.
She is known for her strong expression, sense of rhythm and multidisciplinary abilities.
The 'theatrically woven' dance is expressed through the depth of the siguiriya (a solemn, intense flamenco style), the femininity of the guajira (a graceful dance with Cuban influence), the intensity of the farruca (a strong, traditionally male flamenco dance), and the lively rhythms of the jaleos and bulerías (fast-paced, festive flamenco forms).
Rebeca has been nominated at the Seville Stages Awards 2024 in the dancer category for her production, which filled two nights at the Teatro La Fundicion in Seville.
For this show, she is accompanied by Ramon Ruiz (guitarist and composer), Carlos Lobo (vocalist and palmas - traditional flamenco clapping) and Sebastian Ruiz (percussionist).
Rebeca Ortega’s performance, Flamenco – ‘Silences’, is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday, June 27 at 8pm. Tickets are £18.
Tickets can be purchased online at: norden.farm/events/rebeca-ortega-flamenco-silences
