FERGUS NUTT continued his fine form with a century as PEPPARD STOKE ROW had the better of their Premier Division draw at home to EMMBROOK AND BEARWOOD on a day that saw many of the league’s matches affected by the wet weather.
With the start delayed due to rain, Peppard Stoke Row lost the toss and were asked to bat, losing Richard Ashton cheaply. Andy Watts joined Nutt in rebuilding the innings, but when he fell with the score on 57, the game was in the balance.
Nutt proceeded to take control of matters, striking the ball all round the ground during a fine innings. Sam Fooks added a useful 27 before Nutt brought up three figures, latterly joined by captain Dan Hayden in accelerating the scoring rate.
Nutt was eventually caught at deep mid wicket for 133 off 103 balls, but Hayden’s unbeaten 30 off 16 ensured the hosts closed on 229-5 in 35 overs.
Hayden claimed an early wicket before his father Roy accounted for Sanjeev Jain to make it 42-2. Hayden senior removed Andy Webb before Dion Sampson, Ashley Hayden and Olly Nicholson all helped themselves to wickets. At the other end U15 Archie Carter played a mature innings to end on 65 not out and help his side to a share of the spoils, the visitors ending on 158-6.

In Division 4 PEPPARD STOKE ROW 3rds’ captain Rob Dyer inspired his side to a 160-run demolition of visitors CROWTHORNE AND CROWN WOOD 3rds.
After losing an early wicket, Berkshire Over 50s man Don Townsin and Pradeep Kumar took the score to 58 until the latter was dismissed. Useful contributions throughout the middle order kept the momentum going – including another eye-catching 24 from U15 Toby Head – but it was Townsin who was the star of the show in making 62 before he was stumped. The hosts closed on 201-9 in their 45 overs.
A heavy shower made batting harder for the visitors, but they also came across Dyer and George Lee in fine form. U15 Lee claimed 3-10 from his six overs, while Dyer went one better with 4-18 from 10. With Mick Chard taking 2-6 off seven overs the visitors were all out for just 41.
