AS a county councillor, I get more emails about roads, drains and overgrown vegetation than anything else, so it amazes me that these matters don’t feature in the list of nine priorities published by the Liberal Democrats running the council.
The council should have three main priorities: adults social care, children’s social care and roads and drains.
The first two items account for more than half of the councils expenditure, so require very close attention. The third item affects almost everybody.
Councillors should stick to local issues and not waste time and money sounding off about national and international issues — and less should be spent on indulgent schemes in Oxford city while our town and rural areas suffer.
I believe in protecting the rural nature of our villages and the charm of Henley. I have lived in the area for 30 years and my family grew up here.
I hope you will vote for me so that I can continue to address the issues that matter to you.
