CIPPENHAM 136143-1

Plans for 13 homes and a ground-floor shop in Cippenham could be approved by Slough Borough Council despite complaints over no proposed parking spaces.

Applicant, Throgmorton Developments Limited, is looking to redevelop the site at 39-41 Elmshott Lane which is currently home to a One Stop convenience store as well as a garage and tyre service.

If approved, the plans would see a block of nine flats, including one to three-bed properties, built as well as four duplex houses.

The application has received more than 40 objections from residents on a number of issues including parking and the size of the proposed buildings.

The development is planned to be ‘car free’ and objectors fear this could lead to parking pressure on nearby streets.

Objectors have also claimed the size of the development, rising up to four storeys, is too high for the surrounding area.

Slough Borough Council’s highways and transport team said it has no objection to the zero car parking spaces proposed in the scheme.

It said the applicant had carried out car parking surveys between midnight and 5.30am on two selected dates in January last year which revealed almost 50 car parking spaces were available on nearby roads.

The site is also in a sustainable location, according to the council’s highways team, with shops, Burnham Railway Station and Cippenham Primary School all less than 10 minutes walk away.

The plans, which have been recommended for approval by the council’s planning department, are due to be discussed by the council’s planning committee on Wednesday evening.
