First hotels recognised by Michelin Guide revealed in Taplow and Ascot

The Michelin Guide has launched a new hotel rating and properties in Taplow and Ascot have been awarded these ‘key’ accolades.

Around 123 hotels in the UK were recognised with inaugural Michelin Keys on October 1 including the National Trust-owned Cliveden House and the Dorchester Collection’s Coworth Park.

The iconic Cliveden Road country house, part of Iconic Luxury Hotels, is one of 37 hotels to receive two out of a possible three keys.

General Manager of Cliveden House Francisco Macedo said: “I am delighted that Cliveden House has received these outstanding accolades, it is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the dedication of our hard-working team, I am immensely proud of their achievements”.

Cliveden House was named the sixth Best Hotel in the UK (outside of London) in this year’s Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, voted for by more than 126,000 readers, while Cliveden House’s Spring Cottage was recognised in the Elite Traveler Top 50 Family Suites Awards.

Executive Director of Iconic Luxury Hotels Andrew Stembridge added: “We are delighted that Cliveden House has been recognised by the MICHELIN Guide, receiving the ‘exceptional’ two-key rating alongside its sister property Chewton Glen.

“To be further recognised by Condé Nast Traveller and Elite Traveler is an achievement we are hugely proud of.”

Like Michelin stars for restaurants, the Michelin Keys are the Guide’s most ‘outstanding hotels’ which include more than 5,000 hotels across the world.

Each hotel is vetted and judged on five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting.

Coworth Park on Blacknest Road was also awarded two keys for the hotel’s ‘commitment to excellence in service and guest experience’.

The new Michelin Key award commends the world’s ‘most extraordinary hotels’, and the prestigious two-key rating by Michelin guide inspectors denotes Coworth Park as ‘exceptional’.

One restaurant inside the 18th-century manor house, Woven by Adam Smith, has already been awarded a Michelin star.

General Manager of Coworth Park Zoe Jenkins said: “We are thrilled and deeply honoured to receive two Michelin Keys in this year’s inaugural awards.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication, passion and hard work of our entire team. We look forward to building on this achievement and continuing to create an unforgettable experience for all of our guests.”
