Bray parish will be represented at a special service in Thiepval tomorrow (Friday) to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.
Parish councillor Sandra Kieley, who lives in Bray, won tickets in the ballot to attend the special memorial service in Northern France.
She will be laying a wreath on behalf of Bray Parish.
Speaking before she left for France, she said: “I was honoured when I was chosen for tickets, and I thought ‘I have to lay a wreath’. I began to look into the men on the Bray War Memorial and there are 10 men from the parish who died at the Battle of the Somme.
“I put a fact file together about the men which is now next to the memorial and it’s really interesting to learn about who they were.”
The names will also be on the wreath Sandra will be laying at the Thiepval memorial.
