Taxi service Uber has announced it is expanding into Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead.
The firm, which allows users to order cars using a real-time smartphone app, launched the uberX product in the region on Friday.
It will allow users to book journeys through the Uber app and track how far away their driver is.
The service has been in use in London since 2012.
Uber says the app’s popularity has outgrown the capital, with 20,000 people downloading the app in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead in the last 30 days.
It adds a journey from Slough Railway Station to Windsor Castle will typically cost £7.85, while a trip from Maidenhead Railway Station to Maidenhead Bridge would cost £4.20.
Mathieu Proust, General Manager for Home Counties, Uber said: “Due to the close proximity to London we have already seen huge demand for the service in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead.
“Thousands of people in the region have asked us to increase our reach to allow them to commute with a service which is convenient, affordable and safe. We are proud to be bringing a new and innovative service to the Royal county.”
