Director and model Jessica Jerzewski dies after 13-year cancer battle

A Windsor girl who became one of America's leading casting directors has lost her 13-year battle against cancer.

Jessica Jerzewski, 42, grew up at Orchard Avenue in Windsor and went to Trevelyan and Windsor Girls' School.

This week her sister Becca remembered the beautiful girl who featured on the cover of the famous album Take On Me, featuring the Norwegian boy band AHA.

The sisters both took part in the trendsetting video that accompanied the hit single from the album - directed by their uncle Simon Fields.

Becca said: "We had a fabulous day in London being filmed. We had never heard of AHA and no-one at school was impressed.

"Then the record came out and the video caused a sensation. You can just see my ear in it but Jessica could be seen clearly. She was asked to be on the cover of the album and became a model in Paris and Milan appearing in magazines like Elle."

Jessica gave up modelling and moved to Hollywood, determined to work in production. She started her own business as a casting director.

Disaster struck when at the age of 29 she was diagnosed with cancer. She refused to let it defeat her though.

Becca said: "She loved her job and worked tirelessly to build up her business, working through all her gruelling radiation and chemotherapy treatments. By the time of her death she was considered one of America's leading commercial casting directors. She did commercials for Sony, Budweiser, Visa and Mercedes."

She said: "We had a memorial for her on a surf beach beach at Santa Monica. Surfing was her passion and she was out on the ocean whenever she was well enough to catch the waves."

Friends of Jessica plan their own memorial get-together in Windsor at the Green Olive restaurant in the High Street.

Jessica's mum Linda Oatway and stepdad Paul live in Eton. Becca lives in Parsonage Lane with her husband Carl and son Dylan.
