A tank pulled up outside Windsor Guildhall on Tuesday for the Household Cavalry Community Day.

Soldiers were on hand to answer questions about every aspect of the regiment, from ceremonial duties to the armoured cavalry.

It was the first time the event has been held and a horse drawn cart and tank outside helped draw more than 500 people to the Guildhall.

As well as young people interested in joining the regiment it attracted veterans and children.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Slough also visited after the Household Cavalry took part in a peace symposium it organised in October. Staff corporal Leigh Preston said: "We share the Royal Borough with so many thousands of people but we rarely come into direct contact with them.

"It gave us the opportunity to show what we do. It was absolutely fantastic."
