Midfielder Jamie Essex has announced he is set for a new challenge after officially leaving Flackwell Heath.

Essex captained the Heathens to the Combined Counties Premier Division North title two seasons ago but had less of an impact last season as the club finished third in the Southern League Central Division.

He spent much of the campaign playing at Penn & Tylers Green where he was named supporter’s player of the season.

In a post on social media, Essex said: “Tough day for me today as I’ve decided to officially leave.

“Flackwell Heath will always be the most special football club to me.

“It was an honour to captain the side and I’m so glad we could deliver step 4 in my time. for now, it’s time to go and win a trophy elsewhere.”’

Flackwell Heath posted: “A tough day indeed, a big thank you from everyone involved at Flackwell Heath FC.

“A brilliant captain on and off the pitch, leading us back to Step 4 after 17 years at Step 5.

“The pleasure was all ours! Good luck with the next challenge.”
