Arts trail is 'great showcase of Maidenhead and Cookham’s talent' for 16th year

A wide variety of affordable art was showcased to residents during another successful weekend for the Cookham and Maidenhead Arts Trail.

A total of 50 painters, etchers, and sculptors across 16 venues around Maidenhead and Cookham promoted different mediums – oils, acrylics, and watercolours – while materials included glass, textiles, ceramics, and jewellery.

Some opened their homes and studios, and multi-artist venues included St Luke’s Hall, 124 Studios in the Nicholson’s Centre and Whitecroft Studios on Portlock Road.

Chair of the organising committee and glass artist Jill Chadwick previously told the Advertiser that meeting and getting feedback from customers can be an ‘uplifting’ experience.

“Art can evoke such great memories,” she added.

“The feedback from visitors was that they loved the broad variety of exciting and creative work and found it really interesting talking with artists about the creative process and the techniques used.

“This year, [several] Year 11 students studying GCSE art attended and found the conversations valuable.”

Many participants want to exhibit their work again after the 'wonderful' sales made this year, as they enjoyed exhibiting with fellow artists, exchanging tips, meeting visitors and sharing their work.

“One venue has already been asked if they would participate in a community event next month,” said Jill.

“It really is a great showcase of Maidenhead and Cookham’s talent.”
