Wycombe keeper Scott Brown has joined National League side Eastleigh on a 28-day loan to enable him to benefit from first-team football.
The 31-year-old arrived at Adams Park in the summer but an injury sustained on the first day of the season kept him sidelined for three months.
Boss Gareth Ainsworth swooped to bring Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman to the club and his impressive form has seen him retain number 1 status, with Brown’s only recent appearance coming in the Checkatrade Trophy clash with Coventry City.
Ainsworth said: “Scott needs games to get himself back to full match sharpness and this loan period will give him that opportunity, at a really competitive level in the National League and working under a very good manager in Ronnie Moore.
“He’s an experienced player and he understands that Jamal has earned the right to keep his place in goal for us at this moment in time.”
The loan deal includes an immediate recall clause and does not permit Scott to feature in Eastleigh’s FA Cup fixtures.
W Newport County remain optimistic tonight's (Tuesday) League 2 game against the Chairboys will go ahead, provided there is no more heavy rain.
The decision will rest with the match referee on the day of the game and Wycombe will keep in close contact with their hosts to ensure the most up-to-date information is communicated to both sets of supporters.
Wycombe are looking to build on their 2-1 win at Cambridge United on Saturday.
