More than a quarter of homes and businesses in Twyford lost power for a period this morning.
Southern Electric Power Distribution confirmed 2,800 customers were affected but more than half had their power reconnected within about 20 minutes.
Most of the homes lost power at 10am and the black out was blamed on a fault on the high voltage network.
The company was still working to restore power to 500 customers at 11am.
A Southern Electric Power Distribution spokesman, said: “Within two to three minutes we managed to get power restored to around 1,700, as we managed to re-route supplies.
“At 10.40am a further 600 customers were back on which leaves another 500 homes still without power as of 11am and we are working to get those homes back on.
“Our priority is to get those homes back on as soon as possible and then we will do some investigations to find out why it happened and make sure it doesn't happen again.
“We'd like to thank our customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
