Update 3.20pm - National Rail has said that while all train lines have now reopened, disruption is expected to last until 4.30pm.
Elizabeth line and Great Western Railway trains between London Paddington and Reading are experiencing 'major disruption' following a casualty on the tracks.
Emergency services were called to the line at Hanwell Rail Station this morning, where a person was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not being treated as suspicious.
National Rail has said, while emergency services respond to the incident, disruption is expected to last until 3pm and includes cancellations and delays to trains.
A British Transport Police statement said: “Officers were called at around 11am today (9 June) to reports of a casualty on the tracks on the line at Hanwell railway station.
“Officers responded but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Great Western Railway said it is operating ‘a very limited service’ between London and Reading, which includes Maidenhead and Slough stations, with services delayed and rescheduled.
An update on the operator's website said: "An incident requiring the attention of the emergency services has occurred which will prevent train movements occurring between London Paddington and Reading at their full capacity.
"A very limited service will operate in the short term between those stations which will be very busy owing to the disruption in the area."
An update on National Rail's website said: "The emergency services are responding to an incident between London Paddington and Southall. Whilst they carry out their work all lines between these stations are closed.
"Trains running between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport / Reading will be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Major disruption is expected until 15:00."
