A driver crashed into a set of traffic lights in Maidenhead town centre on Monday morning (May 5), causing it to collapse onto the pedestrian island.
Crew from Maidenhead Fire Station received a call from Thames Valley Police following reports of a crash on the A308 at the traffic lights by Maidenhead Railway Station.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene at 7.57am.
Upon arrival, they found no people trapped in the collision involving one car and a traffic signal pole.
Firefighters were on scene for approximately 10 minutes, making the vehicle safe before handing the scene over to Thames Valley Police.
Surrounding traffic lights were down on Monday morning, caused by the impact of the collision.
Police directed traffic on the A308 while council contractors restored the lights by 10.30am.
A council spokesperson said, “Following reports of an incident outside Maidenhead Train Station yesterday, our maintenance contractor attended to make the site safe, and the lights were fully restored by 10.30am.
"The damaged traffic signal pole will be repaired as soon as possible.”
