More than 300 drivers in Slough have been caught out by new red light traffic cameras since they were introduced in the town at the end of July.
Slough Borough Council has teamed up with Thames Valley Police to launch the new £79,000 enforcement cameras.
They were switched on at five junctions across the town in a bid to curb red light running and speeding through green traffic lights.
Since they were switched on, 301 offences have been detected and processed between July 27 and Tuesday, September 8.
Because of the camera’s dual purpose, the total figure consists of 32 red light offences and 269 excess speeding offences when the green light was showing.
Drivers who flout the rules can be hit with a fine of up to £100 and have three points on their licence. An educational course may be offered to some motorists instead of points.
Road safety team leader at Slough Borough Council, Lynsey Brookfield, said: “It’s too early to say what impact the cameras have had on the number of crashes.
“But we have received a lot of positive comments from residents, who know from their own experience how many drivers jump red lights in Slough and recognise something needs to be done.
“We expect long-term accident data to show how much safer these junctions are with the cameras.”
The cameras were funded by government capital cash and are designed to be a permanent fixture in the town.
Money raised from fines will be given to the Treasury.
