A former Conservative councillor has become the new UKIP parliamentary candidate for Slough.
UKIP group leader Diana Coad replaces parliamentary candidate Ken Wight who has stepped aside for ‘personal reasons.’
Cllr Coad, who is also a ward member for Langley St Mary’s, only defected from the Slough Conservative party to UKIP, last month.
She was also the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Slough in 2001 and 2010.
In her new role she will be championing the UKIP cause in the upcoming election as she aims to beat Labour MP Fiona Fiona Mactaggart for a seat at Westminster.
Chairman of Slough UKIP, Steve Gillingwater, said: “Diana has proved time and time again that she will support any resident that needs her.
“She has been very successful in the past and I am very sure the Slough public will be receptive to her.”
The decision by Mr Wright was made this morning, with Slough’s UKIP group making a swift decision in choosing Cllr Coad as their new parliamentary candidate.
