A new north Indian restaurant has officially opened its doors in Slough.
Kulcha Express celebrated its grand opening on December 27 and pledges to serve up a ‘real taste of Amritsar’ with dishes hailing from the city located in the Indian state of Punjab.
Based at 398 Farnham Road, the dine-in restaurant and takeaway is the seventh site in the UK with six based in the Greater London area.
The new Slough branch was inaugurated with a ribbon cutting by Slough MP Tan Dhesi and the town’s mayor Councillor Amjad Abassi and they congratulated the owner, Palwinder Singh for the new venture.
Palwinder told the Express he hoped that ‘while people enjoy delicious food, the local business sector will also benefit’ as the company’s services are ‘highly appreciated’ in Southall and elsewhere.
He said: "The opening in Slough was a very eventful day, having the chance to meet everyone. Since the official opening, we are so pleased to say that we have had such good feedback from the local community and our customers. We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone."
Other guests at the event included former Ealing mayor Mahinder K Midda, President of England Kabaddi Federation, Rashpal Singh Atwal and President of Slough’s Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Rupinder Singh Padda.
The name Kulcha Express derives from the popular Amritsari brunch of Kulcha (bread) and chole (chickpeas) and the ‘Amritsari Kulcha Thali’ is a signature item on the restaurant’s menu.
Serving both Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine, the menu also features chaats, paranthe and a variety of curries.
Kulcha Express is open Monday to Friday from 11am to 10pm, on Saturdays from 11am to 10.30pm and on Sundays from 10.30am to 10.30pm.
