Fashion brand Next has agreed a five-year lease for a new unit at the Bath Road Shopping Park.
The future of the popular retail park has been under question after new owners, SEGRO, confirmed earlier this year that it had no plans to retain the site ‘in its current form’.
But the company has now announced that Next will be relocating from its existing shop on the western side of the park to a vacant 10,000 sq ft store on the eastern side.
SEGRO said the new store is due to open in February and will enjoy a more prominent position alongside retailers such as B&Q, Boots and Carpetright.
Jo Jackson, Thames Valley Director at SEGRO, said: “With the lease at the point of expiry and a vacant unit of a similar size available in the eastern part of the Bath Road Retail Park, there was an opportunity for Next to relocate to a more prominent position alongside the other retailers where there is more footfall.
“It is a great example of how we like to work closely with our customers and manage our estates.”
SEGRO bought the Bath Road Shopping Park, which features 10 warehouse retail units, for £120million in January.
The property development firm, which manages the Slough Trading Estate, said it is exploring a number of options for the soon to be full vacant western side of the park.
