This week’s public notices feature a planning application for the refurbishment of Stubbings Café and Nursery and a licensing application for a business in Queen Street.

Licensing

Bargain Booze Ltd, located at 93 Queen Street, has applied for a new premises licence.

This is for the sale of alcohol (off the premises) between Monday and Sunday from 7am until 11pm.

Interested parties or responsible authorities can submit a written representation to the RBWM Licensing team at Maidenhead Town Hall or email licensing@RBWM.gov.uk by January 19 2026.

Road closures

No vehicles will be allowed along part of the High Street from its junction with Bridge Street to its junction with St Ives Road, or to enter Bridge Street from its junction with Forlease Road.

The diversion route for vehicles will be via Forlease Road, York Road, Queen Street, A308 King Street, A308 Stafferton Way Roundabout, A308 King Street, A308 Grenfell Road, A308 Grenfell Place, Broadway, Queen Street and High Street.

The road closure is to facilitate gas mains diversion works and will be in operation daily from Tuesday, February 3, to Thursday, February 5, between 9am and 3pm.

Planning

Plans have been submitted for window upgrades at Stable Cottage, Bisham Abbey.

The proposal concerns the repair and replacement of the existing windows, which will improve the building’s thermal performance while preserving its existing appearance.

The scheme involves upgrading existing windows on a like-for-like basis, and the only alteration is the new heritage-style glazing system.

Meanwhile, planning permission is sought for a change of use of a small parcel of adjoining agricultural land to extend the existing residential garden at Huntsmans House, Cookham Dean.

The change of use from agricultural to residential garden concerns a small section of land adjacent to the east of the existing residential garden boundary on Church Road.

The extension to the residential curtilage is modest, leaving the bulk of the existing agricultural land and impacting only the small area that has been in domestic use for several years.

Finally, a planning application has been submitted for the internal refurbishment of the retail and café areas at Stubbings Nursery and Café, located on the Stubbings Estate.

The proposal includes the repositioning and expansion of the kitchen, alongside additional toilets and service facilities, to accommodate the growing number of visitors to the garden centre and café.

According to the applicant, the existing Café Glasshouse was not originally designed as a restaurant and is now regarded operationally ‘very awkward’. The current customer toilet facilities are also considered no longer fit for purpose.

Stubbings Café opened in July 2011 and has developed into a busy destination providing amenities to the western side of Maidenhead.

The proposed scheme aims to meet strategic objectives, including improved welfare standards, food hygiene and health and safety.

This would be achieved through a new single-storey, detached fridge/freezer kitchen store unit, the reconfiguration of the kitchen and wash-up areas, and a revised internal layout of the existing cafe and shop building.

Plans also focus on improved accessibility for staff and customers through new ladies’ and gents’ toilets, DDA-compliant facilities and enhanced internal circulation.

Logistics efficiency would be improved through increased storage space and better arrangements for the delivery of supplies. The proposals include additional seating aimed at walkers and dog walkers.
