Edinburgh Avenue, Slough.
In the public notices this week, Eton College is seeking permission to do some work on common land, and there is a road closure planned for Slough.
Planning
Eton College has applied for consent from the Government to carry out work on Lammas Grounds, from the south of Eton Wick Road to the west of the railway line.
The proposed landscaping involves creating of a shallow basin and ditch (about 2,825sqm) over which meadow grass will be seeded to improve flood mitigation.
In addition, the college is looking to create a small footbridge over the ditch with fencing either side, and is planning to plant 10m of ‘species rich’ hedgerow.
There is set to be temporary Heras fencing surrounding the site for about five weeks while these works are done. Access will be restricted for those five weeks.
A copy of the application form and accompanying documents can be inspected at The Buildings Department, Eton College, Windsor, SL4 6DU between the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday until April 30.
A copy of the application may be obtained by writing to the same address.
‘Common’ land has certain rights attached to it (these may be access, or walking, for example) even if privately owned.
Permission for ‘restricted works’ can be sought for things like building fences or structures, surfacing or digging up the land.
Because of its legal protections, the council does not solely decide if these works can be undertaken, though it has given its permission already. Rather, the Planning Inspectorate will decide the application.
Any representations should be sent in writing on or before April 30 to:
The Planning Inspectorate, Commons Team at 3A Temple Quay House, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN or commonlandcasework@ planninginspectorate.gov.uk
Road closures
Slough council is looking to close the Edinburgh Avenue (SL1) for roadworks from about number 161 to its junction of Farnham Road.
This would be from a minute past midnight on Monday, June 9 until the expected end at 11.59pm on Sunday, June 29.
If needed, the road can stat closed for a maximum of 18 months, without needing to apply to the Government for an extension of time.
An alternative route will be available for use while the closure order is in force, alongside a local diversion sign at the location.
Advanced warning notices will be at the locations advising of the dates the works will be carried out.
Access will be maintained for all local residents and businesses.
A copy of the order and a plan showing the parts of the highway affected may be inspected at the site, or on the Slough Borough Council website at www.slough.gov.uk/ttro
If you have any queries regarding the proposed work or alternative route, email street.works@slough.gov.uk or phone 01753 475111.
Alternatively, write to: Service Lead – Planning & Transport, Slough Borough Council, Observatory House, 25 Windsor Road, Slough SL1 2EL.
