British lifestyle brand Oliver Bonas looks set to open a new store in Marlow High Street.
The popular homeware and fashion retailer has submitted a planning application for a shop at the site of the former Barclays bank.
The building at 10 Marlow High Street has Grade-II listed status and is believed to have been built at some point in the 18th century.
It has been empty since March 2022 when the banking branch closed due to the continued shift from customers towards online banking.
Danish bakery chain Ole & Steen had been plotting a move to the vacant unit in 2022 but full works were never completed.
Under the new plans, Oliver Bonas is looking to remove the 20th century shopfront which was introduced while Barclays occupied the ground floor.
This will be replaced with a traditional design, constructed with timber and glazing, which is more similar to the historic shopfronts of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Oliver Bonas has more than 90 stores across the UK and specialises in women’s fashion and stylish homeware.
The company said in its design and access statement: “All fit out works have been designed to be respectful of the character of the existing building fabric, whilst providing the necessary environment to fulfil the functions of a modern retail operator.”
