A major project in the redevelopment of Maidenhead town centre held its official opening ceremony today.
One Maidenhead, from developers Get Living, Hub and Smedvig, comprises 429 one to three bedroom flats.
Residents began moving into their new homes within the development in May with the developers advising hundreds of people had registered interest in moving into the new homes.
Get Living chief executive officer Rick de Blaby said at the launch event: “Whenever you’re launching something new like this you’re reminded just what a testament to human endeavour these things are.
“Hundreds if not thousands of people are responsible for delivering this.
“Unfortunately, you don’t get the chance to say thank you to everybody involved on a day like this.”
In addition to the homes, One Maidenhead includes a communal space for the wider community with spaces for restaurants and cafes it expects to open in the near future.
He added: “But I never lose the thrill of seeing something that was a twinkle in your eye come to fruition.
“I never lose the thrill of seeing people use it, whether they’re living in it or working in it.
“We’ll all be telling our grandkids we had a hand in this so - as I say - I’ve never lost that excitement.”
The Advertiser will be sharing our interview with Mr De Blaby in the coming days.
