Roads have been closed in both directions at junction 9B of the A404(M) up to the Burchetts Green roundabout after emergency services were called to tackle a pylon fire earlier today.
Berkshire Fire and Rescue called Thames Valley Police at 12.28pm this afternoon to report a wooden pylon on fire near the junction.
The fire has now been put out and it is hoped a temporary repair can be made this afternoon to allow the road to be re-opened.
Police are currently stationed on the M4 in an attempt to stop traffic coming onto the A404(M).
There are long tailbacks on the road and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
