Damage to a toilet door at the park
Oaken Grove Park was vandalised again on Saturday after a group of youths damaged the building of a new cafe.
According to police, young people used ‘metal implements’ to damage the door of the toilets and became ‘confrontational and abusive’ when challenged on Saturday evening.
Vesuvlo Cafe, which opened less than two weeks ago in the park, may have to close if the vandalism continues.
This is not the first time the park has been targeted. In October the bright ideas maze was vandalised just days after it was launched.
In March, Cllr Simon Werner (Lib, Pinkneys Green) raised concern about the state of repair of the play equipment after graffiti, decaying rubbish and fire damage was found.
