Wealthy pensioners are being asked to help the needy by donating their winter fuel allowance to Rotary clubs.
The Rotary Club of Maidenhead (RCM) is asking for some over-65s to give up their once-a-year £100 payment to be redistributed to charity.
The fuel allowance, which is not means tested, is handed to everyone claiming an old age pension regardless of their affluence.
Those who donate would be able to specify in a note whether they would like the money to stay in UK or go abroad.
Donate to the Rotary Club of Maidenhead by contacting Mike Holness, Secretary Rotary Club of Maidenhead, 29 Laburnham Road, Maidenhead, SL6 4DB or contact secretary@maidenheadrotary.co.uk
