Drug teams warn 'miaow miaow' is on the rise

Drug teams are warning about the dangers of an ecstasy-type drug known as 'miaow miaow' - after seeing an increase in young people seeking help to get off it.

Class B drug Mephedrone causes increased sex drive and alertness but also paranoia, headaches and can be fatal if mixed.

All this week 20 year-11 pupils from eight Maidenhead secondary schools are undergoing four days of drug, alcohol and sexual health training with Turning Point.

It is hoped the lessons will enable them to advise younger peers about risky behaviour.

Project worker Theresa Allen said: "It is often easier for a teenager to speak to an older student than a teacher or other adult."
