Time is ticking for a watch repairer's preparations to take on Africa's highest peak.
Gary Millard, branch manager at The Watch Workshop in the Nicholsons Centre in Maidenhead, will start an eight-day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro on September 5.
The 21-year-old hopes to raise £1,500 for After Adoption, a charity which provides support and finds families for children in care.
The trip became reality when he wrote to the shop's owner, John Timpson, asking for sponsorship.
The Timpson Group chairman responded offering to cover the entire £3,000 costs.
"I'm apprehensive but excited at the same time," said Gary, who lives in Wokingham.
"The closest I've done to this is Snowdon, but it's a very worthy cause."
