Former Redroofs pupil Kate Winslet made CBE

Oscar-winning actress and former Redroofs Theatre School pupil Kate Winslet has been made a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours list, which was announced today.

The Titanic star, originally from Reading, used to attend the school in Bath Road, Maidenhead.

She receives the honour, which stands for Commander of the Order of the British Empire, for services to drama.

The honours are awarded each year, in celebration of the Queen's birthday and for New Year, for exceptional achievement or service.

Today's list also includes Take That star Gary Barlow and Sarah Burton, designer of the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress.
