Royal Borough council leader David Burbage has put his name forward for the role of Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner.
Elections are set to take place on November 15 and Cllr Burbage (Con, Bray) is hoping to secure a nomination from the Conservative Party for the job.
In 2009/10 Cllr Burbage served on the Thames Valley Police Authority and this week will speak on behalf of potential candidates at the Association of Chief Police Officers Conference in Manchester.
He has been leader of the Royal Borough council since 2007.
