Home Secretary Theresa May took a welcome break from the trials of Government to join some of her constituents celebrating the festival of Diwali on Sunday.
The Hindu Society of Maidenhead held the celebrations during its monthly meeting at St Piran's School, Gringer Hill.
Diwali, the festival of lights, is the most important event in the Hindu calendar and marks the start of the Hindu new year.
Mrs May, MP for Maidenhead and Twyford, praised the contribution made by Hindus to their community and joined in a traditional Indian folk dance.
