The move of mental health inpatients to Prospect Park Hospital in Reading will begin as early as September.
The timetable for the transfer of patients will see mental health inpatients from Ward 10 at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough due to be moved in September, with patients from Ward 12 at Heatherwood Hospital, in Ascot, due to move in February 2013. Elderly mental health inpatients in Charles Ward, at St Mark's Hospital, are due to move to Prospect Park in June 2013.
This month Slough Borough Council considered referring the matter to the Secretary of State but deferred the decision. Instead it has asked for two conditions to be fulfilled, covering a satisfactory transport system and investment in community services.
A spokeswoman from Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said: "As we understand it, the move will go ahead without referring the matter any further dependent on the transport and community investment questions being satisfactorily resolved."
"We are still working on these and very probably nothing will happen until around September time."
