A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman after she had been on a night out in Maidenhead.
The victim, also 25, had been in the town centre with a friend and they left a bar just after 2.30am this morning, getting into what they believed to be a taxi.
The friend was dropped off at home and the victim was then driven to an unknown location and subjected to a serious sexual assault.
Police were called just before 4am by a woman reporting that her friend had arrived home saying she had been sexually assaulted.
The incident is said to have taken place in Slough.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Brown said: “This is obviously a very serious incident and as a result we have had a team of detectives working on the inquiry throughout today.
“We are providing full support to the victim, who attended a specialist support centre following the incident, and who was naturally in a distressed state.
“The investigation is at an early stage but we have a suspect in custody awaiting questioning and enquiries are ongoing.”
