WAMCF Spring Dialogue at the Thames Hospice

An interfaith group in the borough hosted a community discussion at Thames Hospice last week on supporting grieving loved ones.

An 'eclectic mix' of over 50 people attended the Spring Dialogue event by the Royal Borough’s interfaith group Windsor & Maidenhead Community Forum (WAMCF).

The topic of discussion on Thursday (April 18) was: ‘How can we best support someone through dying, loss and grief’.

Thames Hospice outreach coordinator Anita Sawal said: "Thank you so much for giving Thames Hospice the privilege of hosting last night’s event. What a fantastic evening it was. To have been able to share the Hospice with so many wonderful people was truly inspiring."

Attendees at the event included many faith representatives, Thames Hospice staff, Community Wardens, Co-op staff and the new High Sheriff of Berkshire.

The nine beliefs and faiths in the group were all represented, including Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Baháʼí, Brahma Kumaris, Humanism, Judaism, Islam, and Sikhism.

The High Sheriff of Berkshire, Alexander Barfield added: "Thank you to all at WAMCF for having me. I found it most interesting, and I took a lot away from it. Dialogue is so important, and it was great to see everyone discussing the topic respectfully."

The next WAMCF summer dialogue will take place on Tuesday, June 25 at the Maidenhead Synagogue.
