Thames Hotel on Ray Mead Road
A 'cherished' 19th hotel with a 'renowned reputation in Maidenhead' has been sold for nearly £2.5 million.
Dating back to 1886, the 'highly successful' Thames Hotel has been independently owned and operated by the Owen family since 1994.
The 33-bedroom hotel with an extensive bar and restaurant and a terrace overlooking the River Thames was on the market for the first time in nearly 30 years.
The Thames Hotel has been successfully sold at a guide price of £2,450,000.
Previous owner, Cliff Owen said: “Whilst it is, of course, sad to be selling a business with which we have been involved with for almost 30 years, now is the right time to step back.
“We wish the new owners every success during their ownership of this great and profitable hotel on the banks of the River Thames.
“Most importantly we would like to thank the staff, with whom we have shared this memorable journey, for their hard work and dedication over the years.”
Regional hotel director Ed Bellfield from specialist business property advisor Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added: “The sale of The Thames Hotel represents an exceptional opportunity for the new owners to benefit from a highly successful hotel business with significant repeat patronage, largely due to its continued ownership and continuity within the same family since 1994.
“The reputation and success of the business is testament to the family stewardship over recent decades, combined with its enviable location on the banks of the River Thames. We wish Cliff well on his retirement and the closing of a long-established chapter.”
