CCTV appeal launched after fake bank notes used to purchase jewellery in Maidenhead

CCTV images have been released of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with jewellery purchases made using fake bank notes in Maidenhead.

On Thursday, June 8, between approximately 11am and 12pm, a man entered the Pandora Store in Nicholsons Walk.

He purchased two matching necklaces and earring sets worth around £250.

Counterfeit £50 Scottish bank notes were used to purchase these items.

The same man then entered the H Samuels store, also in Nicholsons Walk, using fake £50 Scottish bank notes to purchase a watch.

The store manager called a security guard to check whether the money was legitimate and the man left the store.

Case investigator Gemma Burgin of the Assessment and Investigation Unit, based at Slough police station, said: “I am releasing these images as I believe the man pictured may have vital information about these incidents.

“The items illegitimately purchased were recovered by security staff, and so neither business are at a loss.

“If you recognise the man in these images, or believe this to be you, please contact us online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43230251459.

“Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
