School league tables released today

Parents can compare secondary schools better than ever before as new school league tables are revealed today.

The tables feature 400 per cent more information as part of a government bid for transparency.

The 2011 Schools Performance Tables now include how well disadvantaged children perform in each school and whether previously high, middle and low achieving pupils continue to make progress.

Nationally, disadvantaged children - those on free school meals or in local authority care for at least six months – are approximately half as likely to achieve the national benchmark of five A*-C grade GCSEs including English and maths compared to their peers.

Schools in Maidenhead had the following percentage of pupils getting grades A*-C in five GCSEs - or equivalent qualifications - including maths and English:

Altwood CE Secondary School - 53%
Claires Court Schools - 77%
Cox Green School - 65 %
Desbrough School - 53%
Furze Platt Senior School - 66%
Newlands Girls' School - 75%
Redroofs Theatre School - 43%
