As the coronavirus pandemic continues to have a profound effect on all of our lives, it is important to stay up-to-date with the latest news and advice surrounding the crisis.
At the Advertiser, we have been working hard to not only bring you vital information, but also to let readers know about efforts in our community to help those who need it and bring a smile to our faces in troubling times.
However, we know not everyone is able to go out and buy a newspaper so we are making it easier for people to stay connected.
We are making the weekly online edition of the Maidenhead Advertiser free to read on our website so people who are self-isolating or otherwise unable to pick up a copy can continue to access our coverage.
All you need to do is click the picture of the front page at the bottom of this story to start reading.
Local newspapers are vital to our communities and, even when times are tough, we must do everything we can to reach those who need to be reached.
This does not change the fact that the financial impact of coronavirus on our newspaper is severe.
Advertising revenue has been decimated so staff have had to be furloughed and we have all taken pay cuts as we try to weather this storm and keep bringing you the news throughout this crisis.
We need readers’ support now more than ever so please, if you can, keep buying the newspaper for your household when you go on your weekly shop or pick up a copy for a vulnerable person who might not have access to the internet.
For those of you who get most of your news online, we are looking at new ways to keep you informed throughout the pandemic.
The amount of news we see, hear and read about the outbreak can be overwhelming. Rumours, often untrue, can spread on social media and it can be difficult to keep track of the latest advice, instructions and news on what we can do to support those in our communities.
To help you stay abreast of the latest local developments, we will now be sending out our newsletter twice a week – on Tuesdays and Fridays – with the latest updates on the COVID-19 crisis.
Visit maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/register to sign up.
We hope these two changes go some way to making the Maidenhead Advertiser more accessible when local news is at its most important.
Please, stay safe, and keep supporting us.
