An online donations page has been set up to fund a replacement for the Altwood schoolboys memorial.
The bronze statue was stolen from Ray Mill Island in Maidenhead in October last year before cut up.
It was placed there in memory of Lee Powell, 15, Andrew Watts, 14, Daniel Howton, 14 and Michael Taylor, 13 who died in 1988 on a trip to the Austrian Alps.
Altwood CE School quickly launched a major fundraising campaign to raise the £10,000 need to replace it.
The aim is to have it installed on Ray Mill Island by spring.
The Royal Borough has agreed to underwrite the project and has set up an online donations page at http://www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/parks_the_companions_statue.htm
Cheques or cash can also be posted or taken into the Altwood Road school.
Adam Brettell, 31, of Evenlode was arrested in connection with the theft.
He denied handling stolen goods and is due at Slough Magistrates Court tomorrow where his case will be committed to crown court.
