Update 5.03pm: The junction 7 slip road remains closed and police have said it is 'likely to remain closed for the next few hours'.
11.52am: Thames Valley Police has said it is currently dealing with a fatal crash on the M4 westbound slip road at junction 7.
The crash, which took place at about 7am today (Thursday), involved three vehicles. One man sadly died as a result of the collision and his next of kin have been informed.
Officers currently remain on the scene and the slip road remains closed.
Police said the M4 is running smoothly but the slip road heading westbound at junction 7 is likely to remain closed for several hours as the investigation continues.
Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to contact 101.
10.08am: All lanes on the M4 westbound between junction 7 and junction 8/9 have been closed following a ‘serious collision’.
Motorists have been asked to avoid the area if possible. Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume at about 3.45pm and 4pm.
