5.) Ross Kemp joins competition winner for Bourne End Christmas lights switch-on

Author, actor and BAFTA-winning journalist Ross Kemp will be helping a young competition winner switch on the Christmas lights in Bourne End on Friday.

Joining Ross will be the winner of Bourne End's Christmas Lights Competition, 10-year-old Maisie Paice from St Paul's School in Stratford Drive.

4.) Call to lower speed limit near railway bridge

A petition calling for the lowering of the speed limit on part of the B4447 in Cookham and adding in a crossing has been launched on the Royal Borough’s website.

It requests the stretch between Maidenhead Road and the railway bridge at the end of Cannondown Road to be lowered from 40mph because residents in Maidenhead Road and Southwood Gardens must cross there to get to shops, and young people must do so to get to Furze Platt Senior School.

3.) In pictures: Maidenhead Christmas lights are switched on

A spectacular fireworks show signalled the start of Christmas in Maidenhead on Saturday evening.

A choir, rock band and a range of attractions such as fire jugglers were at the town hall in St Ives Road for the switch-on of the town's Christmas lights.

2.) Peep Show star David Mitchell spotted filming in Maidenhead

Actor and comedian David Mitchell was spotted filming scenes in Maidenhead High Street yesterday morning.

The Peep Show and Would I Lie to You? star was seen wearing a blue suit as a crew filmed him outside Holland & Barrett.

1.) Police believe they have found the body of missing pensioner Beatrice Stafford

Police have discovered what they believe to be the body of 83-year-old Beatrice Stafford.

The body was discovered at land near Brownfield Gardens, near the Gullet footpath, in Maidenhead on Sunday.
