After yesterday's hottest day of the year, heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop across the country this afternoon and evening.

Maidenhead winger Sam Barratt has been on trial with League 1 side Bristol Rovers this week and could be set to play in their friendly against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Rovers boss Darrell Clarke has been running the rule over Barratt, who’s impressed supporters despite making only a handful of appearances for the Magpies over the past two seasons.

Golf trips and grandchildren are among the various retirement plans for five staff members leaving Newlands Girls' School this week.
Assistant headteacher Sue Kidd is the longest-serving of the retiring staff, having joined the school in Farm Road in January 1979 as a PGCE student.
