Maidenhead United continued to make their mark in the transfer market as they announced the signing of Freddie Grant from Wealdstone FC.
The 22-year-old left-sided defender moves to York Road from National League South side Wealdstone, who were beaten semi-finalists in this year’s playoff.
Grant made 25 appearances last season, scoring three times from defence and despite his age adds experience to Maidenhead’s rank, plying his trade at Margate, Farnborough and Oxford City, as well as Wealdstone after starting his career at Oxford United.
Chief scout Lee Devonshire, speaking to the Maidenhead media team, said: “Freddie is someone who has plenty of experience for one so young. He has been in the Conference South for a few years now at the likes of Oxford City, Farnborough and more recently Wealdstone. A left back with good energy, a competitive side and he chips in with the odd goal so he will be a player that will be a valuable asset to us moving forward."
Maidenhead also announced the first of what is set to be a packed pre-season fixture list, which they kick off on July 13 against Ascot United at 12.15pm.
