The long and the short of it with Geppetto's child

Jasmin Vardimon’s multi-talented dancers bring to life the famous puppet Pinocchio as he embarks on a journey to become a human boy.

Based on the original book penned by Carlo Collodi in 1883, this performance combines physical theatre, quirky characterisation, innovative technologies, text and dance to examine the idea of what it means to be human.

A leading force in British dance theatre for nearly 20 years, Jasmin Vardimon has built a reputation for challenging and visually appealing dance. She formed her own company in 1997 and has gone on to work with some of the leading dance companies across the globe.

She said: “I find a unique curiosity in re-discovering this original 1883 classic tale.

“Going back to Collodi’s original novel allows us to critically examine the assumptions of ourselves and others about what it means to be human.”

Born and raised in Israel, Jasmin has been recognised with positions of Associate Artist at The Place, in London, and at Yorkshire Dance as a partner from 1999 to 2005.

She has also been awarded an honorary doctorate from Royal Holloway University.
