If Bracknell had suffered a power cut last Saturday night, then it could have plugged into the stage of The Wilde Theatre, as the energy from it would have lit up the whole town.
Director, Mark Hooper and his team captured the exuberance, colour, fun and excitement of the original Dreamworks movie and enhanced it with this musical extravaganza for all ages.
Luke Robinson, Laura Hartley, Sam Gillett and Kier Buist excelled in the lead roles, especially Buist, who, not that you noticed, stepped in at short notice after Courtney Fleming suffered an injury.
However, it was Michael Ayiotis who stole the show as the crazy King Julien. Giving the original character a run for his money, Ayiotis certainly knew how to ‘Move it, Move it’.
The rest of the ensemble cast, including the wonderful penguins, certainly put a smile on the faces of an appreciative audience and the standing ovation was well deserved.
