A new chief executive has been unveiled by Buckinghamshire County Council (BCC).
The appointment of Rachael Shimmin, who has been corporate director for children and adult services at Durham County Council since 2012, is set to take up the position later this year, pending approval by full council on Thursday, April 28.
She replaces Chris Williams, who left the post on Thursday, March 24, following 16 years in the role.
Speaking about the decision, Martin Tett, leader of BCC said: Rachael was an excellent candidate in what was a highly competitive recruitment process.
“She brings significant experience in the key sectors of children’s services, adult social care and health.
“These are all sectors that represent both growing challenges and opportunities for the county council, and Rachael's skills will further strengthen the council’s position in these areas."
