Frimley Health launches real-time emergency care tracking through app

Bedside, a new function of the MyFrimleyHealth Record app by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

Patients in the Emergency Departments can now track and interact with their care in real time at Frimley Health’s hospitals through the mobile app.

The NHS trust running Wexham Park Hospital is the first in England to launch a new feature of its MyFrimleyHealth Record app called Bedside.

It enables people who are well enough to use a smartphone or tablet to check on their emergency care at any given moment and see what to expect next.

They can also view test results, learn about any prescribed medications, find out who is part of their care team and submit requests such as for an update on their care.

Chief Clinical Information Officer Graham Smith said: “Coming to an Emergency Department can often be a worrying time, but Bedside puts the latest information about your care at your fingertips, saving time, giving information and answering questions, and hopefully providing a smoother experience for you in our hospitals.”

Bedside is the latest update to the MyFrimleyHealth Record app, transforming how patients interact with their care, supporting the NHS shift from analogue to digital.

The feature enables patients in the Emergency Department to provide details of any medication they take at home or to give consent for a procedure.

It also signposts to relevant health information online.

Bedside opens automatically on MyFrimleyHealth Record when patients check in to the Emergency Department.

They will be prompted to download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play at check-in if they haven’t already registered for MyFrimleyHealth Record.

They can even grant permission for a trusted friend or family member to manage their care on their behalf.

MyFrimleyHealth Record users have instant access to much of their medical record, can book and manage appointments, exchange secure messages with their care team, attend online consultations, and view test results, medications and letters.

The introduction of Bedside underscores Frimley Health’s ongoing commitment to investing in infrastructure and technology that will enhance patient care and experience.
