A Langley mother has celebrated the birth of her first child on New Year’s Day – one of the first born in the UK in 2025.
Little Ophelia O’Callaghan was born at Frimley Park Hospital at 00.25am. She weighed 6lb 4ozs.
Ophelia was the first baby born at hospitals run by NHS Frimley Health Foundation Trust in 2025, which includes Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and Frimley Park in Camberley.
Mum Madeline said: “It’s really exciting that Ophelia is the first baby born.
“There was actually a race going on between two Mums, Ophelia came first and then another baby girl was born just a few minutes later.”
This is the first child for Madeline and Ophelia’s dad Francis.
The first babies born at Frimley Heath hospitals were given commemorative hampers by the midwives to mark their special birth dates.
Ophelia though, is not alone in calling 1st January her birthday as 21 newborns were born at NHS Frimley Health hospitals on New Year’s day.
Wexham Park Hospital welcomed three girls and eight boys, and Frimley Park saw seven girls and three boys.
